Does this recharge or do you have to change out batteries?

The Sphere X has replaceable CR 2032 batteries. This model cannot be plugged in to charge.

Yes, there are magnification lenses available for the Sphere X in +1, +1.5, +2, and +2.5. These will be part numbers 5000.066, 5000.067, 5000.068 and 5000.069
